Battle Royal Rules
Article 1. The arena match is for keeps. For keeps means that if the character dies in the arena, he dies in his home world. Also, any items broken, lasting injuries, or charges on items spent will remain as such upon transfer back to their home world. If it's "just for fun," there is no lasting consequence.
Article 2. The Kaldazor Te'Arana ("the arena") is in the LN plane of existence. Outside the arena there is nothing. You come, you fight, and you leave. Spectators are allowed to come with their buddies to watch the show, but there is a protective shield around the arena that prohibits the casting of spells, the firing of missile weapons, and the passing of potions or other help. Spectators can taunt to their heart's content, but it has no affect on their own or the participant's honor. Fans cannot enter the field and participants cannot enter the stands. The vendors in the stands sell every food and drink known on every plane of existence, but you can't leave the arena with it.
Article 3. Neutral parties will judge the arena match--two HMGMA members in good standing.
Article 4. The match will be a 20 PC Battle Royal. Last man standing wins.
Article 5. The arena charges a fee of 5,000 gp for each contestant, of which 80% will be paid to the victor. The victor will also receive a serial-numbered item.
-A. Magic items, art objects, gems and other non-liquid assets may be used in the absence of, or to supplement, hard coin at 90% of book GPV.
-B. Loans for up to the total amount may be acquired for 10% interest per month and the loan will be transfered to a respectable money lender in the player's home game. In the event of death all property up to the total borrowed amount may be seized by the lender.
Article 6. Terms:
-A. The match is for keeps. If a PC successfully takes an item from another, it's his to keep (although the PC's home GM has the right to disable the item upon return to the home world).
-B. All forms of tournament-legal magic items are allowed.
-C. PCs will fight until they die, go unconscious, or surrender. Incapacitated PCs are immediately teleported from the arena floor with their equipment to their home planes.
-D. All tournament-legal weaponry is allowed.
-E. PCs can heal themselves or others in the arena, but cannot be healed by outside means during the match.
-F. Familiars, animal companions, sidekicks, protégés, hirelings, or other non-combatants are not allowed on the arena floor.
-G. PCs will be able to take one round's worth of actions before being teleported into the arena.
-H. The arena officials reserve the right to encourage offensive action at their sole discretion by any means necessary.
Article 7. Each PC will enter the arena on their initiative roll for the second round. They will teleport through one of eight random teleport locations, and may take normal actions and up to full movement for that round (after a two segment delay).
Article 8. The combat is over when only one PC is still able to fight. The victor is returned to his plane of existence one hour after the conclusion of the match. The judges have the final say on when it is over.
Article 9. Honorable mention titles will also be awarded to the PC with the Most Kills, Most Impressive Death, and Almost Last Man Standing.
